Goals of the organization:

The main purpose of our organization is to support study-courses and practice according to the early Buddhist scriptures and the Three-Basket-Palicanon (Tipitaka) and according the practice as we have it passed down in the Theravāda-Tradition.

This goal should be realized by:

  • Organization of seminars, dhammatalks and meditationretreats according to the early Buddhist scriptures and the Three-Basket-Palicanon (Tipitaka).
  • Organization and material support of guided longterm retreats in Germany according to the Three-Basket-Palicanon (Tipitaka). There is no entitlement to funding.
  • Establishing of opportunities to exchange experiences for all who practice and study according to the early Buddhist scriptures and according to the Three-Basket-Palicanon (Tipitaka) and establishing of support towards each other on this path.
  • Publishing and translation of texts which are in accordance with the early Buddhist scriptures and the Three-Basket-Palicanon (Tipitaka).
  • Training and education for becoming qualified Dhamma- and meditationteachers.

Through these offers people should be given the opportunity

  • to understand their life profoundly,
  • to understand suffering profoundly and to overcome it,
  • to recognize selfish behaviour and overcome it,
  • to find inner peace,
  • to learn respectful, responsible behavior,
  • to practice in friendly benevolence and compassion,
  • to practice ethics, concentration and the development of wisdom.

Dāna (generous giving) to the non-profit organization (gemeinnütziger Verein):

The organization finances itself exclusively through Dāna (voluntary giving, similar to donations). In addition to financial benefits, Service Dāna is also very welcome (provision of specific skills such as cooking for participants in retreats and seminars). In general, the aim is to be able to offer retreats and other Dāna-based events in the future. As it is customary in Asian Buddhist countries, here too practitioners should be given the opportunity to perfect the first pāramī "Dāna" through the practice of generous giving to the meditators in the retreats (for example for food).

lotusflowerDonations (material dāna) can be transferred to the bank account of the organization:

or you can give it personally during the events.

Saṅgha:

The Pāḷiterm saṅgha is here to be taken in its literal sense: community, association.
It is not only a community as the Buddha defines this term in the Suttā:
That is to say or namely the four pairs of persons (awakened ones), the eight individual persons, this is the
community of disciples of the Blessed One (yadidaṃ cattāri purisayugāni aṭṭha purisapuggalā esa bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho).
The organization mainly wants to build up an active community (saṅgha) of people, who exchange their experiences, who work together to practice according to the early Buddhist scriptures and who support themselves in this practice path and help each other in difficult life situations. The association wants to be the foundation on which the Buddhist Kalyāṇamitta ideal can be realized.

SN 45.2. Half the Holy Life – Upaḍḍha Sutta
“Venerable sir, this is half of the holy life, that is, good friendship, good companionship, good comradeship.”
“Not so, Ānanda! Not so, Ānanda! This is the entire holy life, Ānanda, that is, good
friendship, good companionship, good comradeship. When a bhikkhu has a good friend,
a good companion, a good comrade, it is to be expected that he will develop and cultivate the noble eightfold path."
